Experiential Discipleship is designed to facilitate authentic, real-life experience of God and His love through the exploration of story, soul, community, and culture. Rather than a class, it is a distilled version of the process of our journey closer to the heart of God in community. In this process, we encounter God's word, His heart, and His love through His people in deep relationship. This is the love that compels us to love others with the same passion and grace which we have received.
Practically, this is worked out in penetrating conversation-- both with God's people and alone with Him in prayer. It is worked out in study-- of God's word and of our own dialogue with Him in it. It is worked out in service to others-- in caring for one another in practical ways. This is not a program where we sit passively listening to someone teach and then expect information to transform us. This is a process in which each one of us is actively engaged, learning what it means to live out the gospel together.
Our first round of experiential discipleship is complete, and plans for future classes are being made.
